Mola Pola

Tibetan translation from grand mother, grand father

The home of old people

Mola Pola is the translation in Tibetan of grandmother, grandfather. The association supports a center for elderly in Choglamsar in Ladakh (north of India).

As we were sighseeing in this splendid mountainous region in July 2006 we met the residents and discovered their very rudimentary living conditions.
Deeply distressed by these meetings, we created Mola-Pola. It is through our photographs and diaporamas, our testimonies and various exhibitions that we collect funds which are given personally to the director of the center during our trips. This money is used for the rebuilding of the center and improvement of the residents' daily life.

41 people live in the center.
Age : 67 to 93 years
They have no family in Ladakh.
Each of them lives in a small room with a stove, a bed and just enough to live.
Their daily needs :
Hygiene goods, soaps, eye lotion.
Warm clothing for the winter : bonnets,  socks.
Protections for the summer : scarves, caps, sunglasses, spectacles (given to a hospital)
etc....
